I was born and raised in LA and I am moving to NYC in July. This was such an exceptionally written (albeit gut-wrenching) reflection on the uncertainty, emotional tumult, and challenges contained in these two wonderfully strange cities.

Thank you for sharing. You are not alone, and I hope you are well <3

I listened to your beautiful essay on my way to work this morning, such a great piece, thank you for sharing it, I believe that this is a universal experience, but always remember that « it only takes one Yes! »

I feel this, Jenny. I recently ran into a friend I was close to for 10 years, and who ended our friendship abruptly over very little -- me saying I think we both have some repair to do, and I think her shame over what I was upset about -- and it was so dysregulating. I cried when I got home. Who knew friendship could hold more potential for rejection and pain than romantic relationships?

Appreciate your honesty here.

Thank you for a perfectly heart wrenching essay! Can definitely relate. It’s very sad that I feel the need to say “at least he told you he wasn’t coming.” 😂 it is brutal out there!
