I'm performing my hour of stand up, crowd work (flirting), and PowerPoints on both coasts
When I was dating a stand up comedian, I would open for him while he went on tour and headlined in random cities across the domestic US. It seemed so easy for him to do an hour. I was doing 10-15 and even that sometimes felt like a stretch.
In Champaign, Illinois, he was like you’re gonna do 30 minutes. And I was like…what?! Double?! No way…
Then, I did it, I did a really fun 30 minutes…in front of a brewery full of drunk Illinoisans and…his parents. And afterward in the McDonald’s drive-through, I, glowing and tipsy, obviously I’d just done 30 minutes of perfect stand up comedy, told them —the entire family— we’d have to have a Jewish wedding. We weren’t engaged. No no. But I was on a high, and I was ready to stomp on a glass.
And, a year and a half later, we’re broken up, and I’m easily doing an hour. Me! I’m doing an hour, no problem! And I’m really proud of it, and it means a lot to me. You can see it in NYC or LA, and who knows, maybe afterwards we’ll get Jewish married.
Please come! The first time I did it in New York —my first time ever doing an hour—the audience was mostly my reply guys (love you guys) sitting alone. The vibes were really weird. Though I singlehandedly might have ended the male loneliness epidemic, I personally felt lonelier than ever. So if you like my comedy, I would really love to see you there xo.
